Christianity is a Lifestyle with City of Joy. We are real life, everyday, born-again Christians. We commit to not putting up with wishy-washy, flaky fors of Christianity in ourselves or our members.
At City of Joy we cater for all. We want you to enjoy your experience of Christianity with us.
Some of the things we do...
Uni & College Students
Being on the footsteps of the Robert Gordon University, students are very much a part of the vision & life of City of Joy. City of Joy is registered as a FUSION church and therefore through this connection we facilitate and encourage student cellgroups on campus.
Away Events
We encourage all our people to attend LTTs (Leadership Training Times) outside of the UK and various events (including the UK-LTT, Soul Survivor, Spring Harvest, Souled-Out) within the UK for building relationship and equiping/encouragement
Outreach
We have found that outreach, as in street work, has hightened peoples awareness of City of Joy, but has not yet led to multiple street salvations. However, it remains part of our strategy for reaching Aberdeen, as we believe that the Word will accomplish the work, even if we do not see it.
Inreach
We only do inreach events if we have the people to facilitate it. If you have an idea and you'd like to run with it, please come see the leadership and we will do what we can to see it come to pass. The cellgroups have been our most successful form of inreach and to-date is still our main way of bringing in the lost.
Cellgroups
Housegroups, smallgroups, cellgroups....call them what you will. This is where we meet in each others homes for fellowship, worship and study. This is also a venue where we pray for each other.
Prayer
On Sunday nights CoJ have a Prayer and Praise time. Prayer is very much a feature of everything we do. This is often a noisy event, as we rarely take turns to pray, we just lift our voices to God with one common theme. We often pray specifically for the lost by name and family, as well as calling in God's rule and reign over our land. Rarely does a prayer meeting pass without us praying for at least one of our 20,000 relating churches.
Membership
If you would like to consider becoming a member of City of Joy we ask that you attend one of our Vision and Values evenings. Then you will know why God calls us to belong as well as believe, and can make an informed judgement on whether membership is for you. All members will have attended a Vision and Values meeting.
