OUR HISTORY It all started in the September of 2002 with the help of our dear friends in the New Covenant Ministries International (NCMI) apostolic team: "We hired the Tullos Community Centre on the South side of Aberdeen. Having answered the call to plant we set about setting the City on fire with an outrageous leap of faith. Our team was me, Amy and our children Hannah (6) and Joshua (4). We spent the next three years meeting and preaching faithfully to less around 8 regular adults. It's fair to say it was taking a wee bit longer than anticipated! Our heart was always to see people added to the Kingdom and all but wo of those who moved with us to the City Centre were saved/baptised in City of Joy." Rick In September/October 2005 we doubled to 16 adults and by the end of 2006 we regularly saw 30 adults on a Sunday. When we grew to around 50 adults we realised that it was the first time that growth wasnt through new salvations. People moving into the area we're checking us out - some stayed and some moved on. In September 2009 City of Joy joined the family of Churches called Newfrontiers At the time of writing this City of Joy see regularly 80-90 folk, occasionally hitting 100, and only once over 100. Small, but not insignificant... we are on a journey..... lets see what happens! In May 2010 we bought a warehouse in Union Square. It will become a conference centre that will house our meetings. This project is ongoing and for such a small church to be buying such a significant building is a miracle. We hope to open this before the end of 2012. This will be the first time we have had our own venue... and so a new season will begin. Along our journey thus far, we have had the privilege of seeing a lame man (Jim Buchan, now in Peterhead) walk, asthma cured, breast cancer removed, and various other illnesses, sicknesses and deseases leave; babies born when medical advice was to terminate.                                                      Of course in humility we must present the other side of that coin: we have had one unexpected death, a couple in leadership step down through sin, and far too many who have responded to the gospel who didnt make it through discipleship.
